Timber Revival: From Hospital Halls to Tabletops
In our workshop, the rich scent of timber, sawdust, and the artistry of craftsmanship fills the air - and our latest creation, a table crafted from the wood of Goulburn Hospital's nursing residences, tells its rich historic tales.
These walls, now transformed into a piece of art, were once witnesses to the vibrant tales of independence, adventure, and hard work. Goulburn Hospital's nursing residences stood as a haven for the best and brightest young women, fostering memories and friendships that linger in the timber we've carefully repurposed.
Established in the early 19th century, Goulburn Hospital has stood witness to the growth and transformation of the region. From its humble beginnings with a temporary convict hospital to the construction of private wards in the 1930s, each era left its mark on the hospital's history. The 1960s saw significant expansions with the construction of the George Gerathy Wing and a new multi-storey building, contributing to the hospital's enduring legacy.
As we bring this timber back to life, we not only create a stunning table but also embody the hospital's remarkable stories.
