TIMBER CARE & WARRANTY

As a customer of The Table Maker & Co, we understand that you value the nature of timber. No two pieces are the same, the grain patterns vary throughout the pieces and when using reclaimed timber, the history of its use can also be apparent in its new form.

Timber moves. In the heat and in the cold, timber shrinks and expands. Air conditioning, glass windows, sky lights, wood fires, direct sunlight and underfloor heating will increase the movement. While we design our furniture to be as durable as possible in certain and expected environments, these additional variations in temperature will no doubt have an affect in the long term. We make beautiful furniture using the highest quality materials and techniques, and as a small business who care about our customers and our pieces, we will certainly be available to discuss options to repair any damage that occurs. We do not provide a warranty for furniture for movement in the timber or for the consequences of daily use (stains / burns / scratches etc). To keep the table looking beautiful for years to come, try and protect it by not having it in the direct sun, weather, or in spaces that have excessive daily variation in temperatures through heating and cooling.

PRODUCT CARE

NATURAL TIMBER
Please take care if your table is sitting on carpet or a rug as the tannins can stain them. For tiles and other hard surfaces - there are products available at most hardwares that can remove the tannins. This is especially the case if items are outdoors.

FOR OILED AND PAINTED FINISHES
For daily cleaning use a lightly damp cloth to wipe down using dish washing liquid or non-abrasive cleaners. For spills that stain such as red wine, lemon, vinegar and other strong acidic substances - wipe down quickly. Drying down the table also assists in looking after the timber and the finish. Liquid left on the surface will seep under the top coating. Use hot plates / boards or mat.

For deep scratches or burns, sanding will be required. This may require you to re oil or wax the surface.
